Ashtanga Yoga in the mountains
We have built our mountain cabin retreat in 2005, and ever since, each summer we are organizing our yoga and meditation workshops, as well as renting it to similar events.
The cabin is located in Pestera, a picturesque village in Brasov County, central Romania, nestled in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. Its name, which translates to “cave,” reflects the area’s natural beauty and connection to the surrounding landscape, especially the cave systems and rocky terrains that characterize this region. The village is part of the larger Bran Municipality, which also includes the famous Bran Castle, often associated with the Dracula legend.

Am construit cabana noastra montana pentru practica yoga si discipline meditative in 2005, de atunci, in fiecare vara, organizam ateliere de yoga si meditatie, si o inchiriem pentru evenimente similare.
Cabana este situata in Pestera, un sat pitoresc din judetul Brasov, in centrul Romaniei, asezat in inima Muntilor Carpati. Numele sau reflecta frumusetea naturala a zonei si legatura sa cu peisajul inconjurator, in special cu sistemele de pesteri si terenurile stancoase care caracterizeaza aceasta regiune. Satul face parte din comuna Bran, care include si celebrul Castel Bran.
Pestera village offers a peaceful and authentic rural atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, hikers, and those seeking a retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The village is known for its traditional wooden houses, scenic views of the surrounding mountains, and proximity to several natural attractions.
One of the village’s key attractions is its location near the Piatra Craiului National Park, a protected area home to diverse wildlife and rich flora. The park is a haven for hikers, offering numerous trails that lead to breathtaking viewpoints and remote areas. The Piatra Craiului Mountains, with their jagged limestone peaks, dominate the skyline and create a dramatic background for the village.
In addition to its natural beauty, Pestera is known for its agricultural heritage, producing the traditional Romanian cheese, the village’s culture being deeply rooted in its rural lifestyle, and many visitors are enchanted by the warm hospitality of the locals.

Satul Pestera ofera o atmosfera rurala autentica si linistita, fiind o destinatie ideala pentru iubitorii de natura si drumetii cat si celor care cauta o retragere departe de agitatia vietii urbane. Satul este cunoscut pentru casele sale traditionale din lemn, privelisti spectaculoase asupra muntilor si apropierea de numeroase atractii naturale.
Un interes al satului este proximitatea fata de Parcul National Piatra Craiului, o arie protejata ce adaposteste o fauna si o flora diversa. Este un adevarat paradis pentru drumetii, oferind numeroase trasee care duc catre puncte de belvedere impresionante si zone retrase. Muntii Piatra Craiului, cu varfurile lor ascutite de calcar, domina orizontul si creeaza un cadru fascinant pentru sat.
Pe langa frumusetea sa naturala, Pestera este cunoscuta pentru traditia sa agricola, in special pentru produsele lactate traditionale romanesti. Cultura satului este profund ancorata in stilul de viata rural, iar multi vizitatori sunt incantati de ospitalitatea calda a localnicilor.
Pestera’s proximity to other tourist destinations, such as the medieval city of Brasov, the famous Poiana Brasov ski resort, and the iconic Bran Castle, makes it a perfect stop for those exploring the region. Apropierea satului Pestera de alte destinatii turistice, precum orasul medieval Brasov, renumita statiune de schi Poiana Brasov si emblematicul Castel Bran, il face o oprire perfecta pentru cei care exploreaza regiunea. Fie ca este vorba despre excursii montane, descoperirea culturii locale sau pur si simplu relaxare intr-un cadru linistit, satul Pestera ofera o experienta originala.
Since 2005, our students are enjoying time in nature while being able to focus on their practices, having access to renowned local and international yoga and meditation teachers. They are hosted in local guesthouses in the proximity of the cabin, though in the autumn of 2024, the cabin has been renovated and can accommodate a few students.

Din 2005, studentii nostri se bucura de timp petrecut in natura, avand posibilitatea de a se concentra pe practiciile lor si de a avea acces la profesori renumiti de yoga si meditatie, atat locali, cat si internationali. Acestia sunt gazduiti in pensiuni din apropierea cabanei, in toamna anului 2024, cabana a fost renovata si poate gazdui un numar limitat de studenti.
