Lakshmisha workshop March 24-27, 2025.

Born into a humble Brahmin family in a village called Madageri near Gokarna, Lakshmisha Bhat has been associated with Guruji Sharath Jois for close to two decades.

Keen on learning ashtanga yoga, Lakshmisha undertook yoga asana practice under Guruji Sharath Jois. In the meantime, he also received the Vidwan title from the Sanskrit College in Advaita Vedanta philosophy and completed his master’s degree in Sanskrit from Mysore University in 2006.

Upon Guruji Sharath Jois’s request that Lakshmisha starts teaching Sanskrit and yoga-related theory to the increasing number of yoga students who come to KPJAYI for yogic knowledge, Lakshmisha joined the shala as a teacher of Sanskrit, chanting and yoga-related theory in the year 2003.

Lakshmisha has so far taught hundreds of yoga aspirants. He believes yoga is incomplete without the right understanding of the theory and strives to impart that knowledge to everyone who comes seeking for it.Each and every class duration is 2 hours 45 minutes, including 15 minutes small break.

This is his second time in Romania, last year teaching in Cluj, in March we will be teaching first time in Bucharest.

1 st session: Chanting and explanation of different Prayers ( Bhajans).

Chanting of the Primary series, asanas names, finishing  postures, countings,  Ashtanga 
starting and closing prayers and explainations, japa and moral stories.

2nd session:  Philosophy, Lakshmish will be teaching Hatha yoga  Pradipika.
How yoga started, who introduced it. Importance of Parampara, meaning of the Guru,
3 types of tapas, why we have to keep the knowledge secretly. The qualification needed to become a spiritual student. How yoga shala should be. How to practice in the shala.
What kind of  behavior yoga students should avoid, what kind of behavior yoga students
should develop. How to improve the practice. Explaining some asanas and their benefit, including  Siddhasana, Bhadrasana, Simhasana, and Padmasana.
We will be discussing when to become a yogi, about the moderate diet of a yogi and what kind of food a yoga student has to avoid. What kind of food yoga students can safely take, what kind of behavior yoga students have to avoid and why philosophy is very important.

3 rd session: Learning Sanskrit letters and reading, learning how to write
the words. At the end of this course you can read and write simple Sanskrit
words.
